However, Peter Shoemark, Gosden's racing secretary, said: "It has been decided not to supplement Centennial for the St Leger. We are going to look instead at the Prix Niel at Longchamp."

Fire heads 18 in Leger

Ante-post favourite Frozen Fire heads a list of 18 contenders at the five-day stage for St Leger on Saturday.

He is one of eight possibles for Aidan O'Brien, while Sir Michael Stoute has Conduit, Doctor Fremantle and Warringah in the race - but not Patkai.

Ralph Beckett's Look Here could make her first start since her Oaks triumph in June, while fellow filly Unsung Heroine is in the mix for Tommy Stack.

War Native has not been ruled out of the Champagne Stakes, but connections are favouring a conditions event two days earlier for Jeremy Noseda's colt.

Belinda Strudwick of owners Ballygallon Stud said: "If the ground is OK, it is likely he will run on Thursday. Jeremy would prefer he got more experience.

"If it is soft but looks like it might dry for Saturday, then he could still run in the Group 2."

Galligan took Sir Gerry out at the five-day stage last week due to testing conditions, but feels he should have another crack of the whip as the race is being run at a different track.

He said: "It's a disgraceful decision of the BHA. We paid £1,800 in entry fees so far, yet we are not welcome."

Owner expresses feelings

Gerry Galligan is unhappy with the BHA after they opted to allow just the horses confirmed at the original five- day stage to contest the Sprint Cup.

The owner of Sir Gerry said: "Last Monday we were faced with the prospect of running our horse at Haydock, where the going was heavy.

"Saturday's race will be run on much better ground and I feel my horse should be allowed to run in it."

BHA dismisses argument

The BHA believes it has taken the fairest steps for those involved in the Sprint Cup and has dismissed the argument for reopening the race.

Paul Struthers, the BHA's media relations manager, said: "It was always intended that we would revert to those left in at the five-day stage.

"This is a championship race that we're picking up and moving, as opposed to putting on a consolation race."

Beverley fit for racing

Beverley cancelled their planned 3pm inspection for Tuesday's meeting after conditions at the track improved.

The East Yorkshire venue saw a dry day on Sunday and course manager Sally Iggulden believes there is no need to check the track again.

She said: "We walked the course and after a dry 24 hours, it really had improved. We now feel there's no need for an inspection."

Lingfield turf races on

Tuesday's turf races at Lingfield have been given the all-clear after course officials staged a precautionary inspection this morning.

Conditions have improved markedly, enabling clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross to deliver a positive assessment at 8am.

He said: "We still have heavy ground, but the rain on Tuesday looks minimal and should not hit us hard."

"He beat Ramonti a couple of years ago so the form was there somewhere! Mirco Demuro will come over for the ride."
