Lewis did nothing wrong and was robbed of a great win. I hope Lewis wins all the remaining races to win the Championship. He is the best driver this season. A Wright, TS4

Formula One used to be a great sport assisted by rules - not, as it is today, destroyed by rules. Kimi forced Lewis off with a racing move which did not deserve to be punished. Lewis obeyed the rules and let him back in front then, with a brilliant racing move, overtook him and for this was severely punished. Both incidents were what racing is all about and made spectacular viewing. Peter, Boston Spa

The stewards were correct to penalise Hamilton. If the chicane Hamilton cut had been a gravel trap, Hamilton would not have cut it. Had he not cut the chicane, he would not have been in Raikkonen's slip-stream at the end of the straight, and therefore would not have passed him.

Therefore, By cutting the chicane, Lewis Hamilton gained an advantage and a drive-through time penalty applies. Darren Moynagh, Republic of Ireland

Congratulations to Serena Wiliams for winning her third US Open title.

With her also making the final of Wimbledon, she has been the best player in the world these past few months.

And with her and Venus having won the last two majors, they have proved all the doubters wrong who said that the game had passed them by.

Marsha, Surrey.

What can I say - Murray has been brilliant all the way through the tournament. Nadal, watch your back as Andy is after the No 1 ranking, hopefully to go with his US Open trophy - he has beaten Federer before.

This is great for Scotland and great for Britain. Tim who?

Kevin Pettigrew, Manchester

The US Open tennis tournament is not a team event like the Davis Cup so the nationality of the players is irrelevant. I will support the player that I respect and like the most and as Andy Murray is an obnoxious character then I want the more respected and likeable Roger Federer to win the final. Pete, Plymouth

Well done to the stewards in Belgium for a correct call. Kimi was clearly first to the left turn of Bus Stop and was perfectly entitled to turn in. Had Lewis done the right thing and backed out he surely would not have been close enough to make a move into the next corner.

Cutting the corner clearly gave him an unfair advantage and he got what he deserved. Adam, Surbiton

If Hamilton had followed Kimi around the chicane, would he have been able to outbrake him at the next corner? No - he would have been too far away.

The only way he was able to be close enough to overtake Kimi's Ferrari was because he cut the corner. He didn't even attempt to take the chicane. I'm no Ferrari fan, but the stewards were right. It was clearly an unfair advantage. Grant, Buckie

Wise up folks!. F1 leadership has to be seen to be competitive to maintain the interest of the world audience. Recall the penultimate race last year, when Hamilton had a clear lead for the championship and needed only a top-four finish to win. First, the shenanigans over the choice of tyres, then he ran off the track in the pit lane. This meant the final race in Brazil would decide the drivers' title and ensured maximum worldwide spectators. Jim Howe, Somerton.

</t:full_article><uid>c012c6ec3c3a8b84f244314222ad80b9</uid>
SPORT CHAT: Your views
