Quite right too, if this fragile little acoustic gem gets him any interest.

True, Kes' guitars are so brittle they're barely there and he needs some fleshing out. But, in two minutes, he fits worlds of intensity into a quiet sigh and throws out sweet couplets many bands would base whole albums on.

That the Cambridge band have yet to play a gig is surely the only reason they don't already have major stardom.

This is wondrous, swooning classic romantic indie. You could only say that Nick Osbourne sings a bit Morrissey in the way The Beatles copied Buddy Holly.

A song that gallops along with a heart the size of a mountain, it makes you stop strangers and go "Listen to THIS!"

Having only started gigging in January, the West Lothian quintet have already settled into solid, goodtime popsters.

They call Fundamental "Air Traffic with a Scottish accent", which isn't far off - if they lack AT's killer melody, its terrific swirling guitar puts it straight onto the indie dancefloor.

A bit too retro as yet, but the style and elements are all in place.

Fantastic eerie blues from a trio who wear balaclavas to hide their identity.

They can't remain secret for long, as labels should be fighting to snap up a band who switch from the Clinic-via-Bad Seeds swampiness of Lord to the whooped fervent holler of Little Mary.

In just two songs, it's clear there's very little else around like them - but their intensity is all-embracing.

Produced by Oppenheimer and with Kooks and Editors supports already, the Belfast trio are clearly on their way.

Not hard to see why either, as the boy/girl ba-ba-bas in the bridge are exemplary power-pop thrills.

Art-rock guitars are slightly less adept, but their fervour makes them a less pompous Los Campesinos with a potential for pop manna.
